Raising Our Roots: Introduction to Genealogy is a beginner-friendly workshop designed to help participants start discovering, documenting, and preserving their family history. Powered by West Valley Empowered Voices Lions Club and West Valley Genealogical Society, this workshop introduces the foundations of genealogical research, building family trees, gathering oral history, and beginning the journey of tracing your roots.
Participants will learn how to take the first steps in family research, understand basic tools and records, and explore meaningful ways to preserve family stories for future generations. Whether you are brand new to genealogy or ready to organize what you already know, this workshop offers a welcoming space to reconnect with your heritage and honor the legacy that came before you.
